ABOUT RYAN
EXPERIENCE
My passion for higher education began in 2019 during my internship with the UT System Office of Government Relations where I helped the OGR team develop strategies and policy priorities designed to help students across the UT System. Building on the notion of empowering students to see themselves at an elite institution, I became a campus tour guide in the Office of Admissions later that year. For two years, I gave nearly 100 tours of the university I had come to love and kept my ear to the ground through the admissions cycle. This equipped me with the tools to assist prospective students with increasing their odds of getting into UT Austin and answer their most pressing questions. During grad school, I served as a teaching assistant for 3 semesters helping both undergraduate and graduate students refine their writing, technical, and Microsoft Office skills to equip them with the tools to be successful in class. Most recently, I worked as a policy analyst for the Texas Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education where I helped summarize, analyze, and strategize bills and funding proposals for public institutions across the state. I was able to interact and meet with dozens of university presidents to understand their issues and plans for future classes of students. I am passionate about higher education — I believe it offers a window of opportunity and a springboard to achieving dreams. It would be an honor to use these experiences to help the next generation of students get the chance to fall in love with learning just as I did.
I am also a Senior Consultant at a global consulting firm, where I help state & local governments develop and find tools to become more efficient for the constituents they represent. I work with our clients to help identify solutions to complex problems, which helps me give students real, professional-level support.
Hi, I’m Ryan.
EDUCATION
Born and raised in Texas, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 with a B.A. in Government and Plan II Honors and a certificate in Business & Public Policy. Upon graduation, I immediately returned to the LBJ School of Public Affairs to receive my master’s degree in Public Affairs. Now, after six years of higher education at one of the most prestigious national institutions, I want to help other students get the same opportunities and education I did.
BOTTOM LINE
My professional experience centers on teaching, consulting, and writing, all of which can help my students achieve their academic and educational goals. With any luck, I'll get the chance to work with you, too.
